Welcome to Mayfield’s Urban Garden

At Mayfield’s Urban Garden, we are passionate about cultivating beautiful, seasonal flowers that reflect the essence of Bremerton. Our micro flower farm, located on the ancestral land of the Suquamish People, is dedicated to sustainable practices and community engagement. We believe in the power of local produce and strive to provide our customers with the freshest blooms, grown with love and care. Our commitment to eco-friendly methods ensures that every bouquet not only looks stunning but also supports the environment. Join us in celebrating the beauty of nature through our unique floral offerings!

Our Mission and Values

Our mission at Mayfield’s Urban Garden is to connect our community to the beauty of nature through locally grown florals. Prioritizing environmentally friendly practices is of the utmost importance to us, and we hope you see that reflected in each bouquet or plant you purchase from us. Beginning from seed, sourcing primarily from local sources that utilize the same growing practices and have the same values as us, we do our best to ensure you are receiving high-quality blooms that are suited well to our unique micro-climate. As we grow, we avoid using synthetic and toxic fertilizers and pesticides, primarily focusing on soil health. When it comes to pest management, we use a variety of integrated pest management (IPM) methods, including cultural (such as companion planting trap crops like nasturtiums, or planting flowers that attract beneficial insects/repel pests such as dill and marigolds), mechanical (such as hand-picking insects or bagging flowers), and biological (such as releasing beneficial insects like ladybugs and green lacewings). When you receive your bouquet, you’ll notice that everything (except the rubberband – but we are working to transition to hemp twine), is able to go into a home compost bin. By choosing to buy from us, you’re choosing more than just pretty flowers. You’re prioritizing environmental stewardship, encouraging sustainable and ethical growing practices, and supporting your local economy!

Meet the Team

Christina & Nick Mayfield grow flowers, natives, and veggies on their urban garden in Navy Yard City in Bremerton, Washington, on the ancestral land of the Suquamish people. They share a passion for slow, sustainable, and seasonal gardening, as well as for their community. From sourcing quality seeds suited for the maritime northwest microclimate, to using organic and salmon-safe gardening methods (including composting, companion planting, and integrated pest management), sustainability and environmental stewardship are their top priorities. When they’re not digging in the dirt, marveling over pollinators, or elbows deep in harvesting, you’ll find them hanging with their cats, Shadow & Salem, frolicking around at a community event in Bremerton, reading a good book, or doing one of their other various crafty hobbies (Nick loves woodworking, and Christina loves to crochet). Thanks for stopping by!

Why Choose Us?

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Preserving the ecosystem is our main priority here at Mayfield’s Urban Garden. Utilizing organic and salmon-safe growing methods ensures that everything we grow is safe for the environment and the habitat in which we live. We also prioritize minimizing waste and have invested in sturdy, reusable seed-starting equipment, as well as sustainably and ethically made or second-hand tools for all of our work. Additionally, we have our own compost bin, where we put food scraps and garden and yard waste, to eventually turn into soil amendments! If you’re wondering, we do accept small amounts of organic material for the compost bin. Please reach out if you’d like to contribute!

Please join us in celebrating the beauty of nature through flowers! We look forward to growing with you!
